Before we consider the cellulite removal by surgical procedure, we have to first understand what is actually is cellulite.
Cellulite is fat deposit below the skin which gives it a dimpled appearance. The skin may look like orange peel. This problem is more prevalent among women because men have a thicker skin which does not easily show these deposits outwardly. Usually, it is more visible on hips, buttocks and thighs. Women go for its removal for cosmetic reasons. There are many treatment options for cellulite removal.They include using of creams, using body wraps, using physical and mechanical methods like ultrasound, heat or pneumatic massaging to remove these fat deposits, injecting chemicals for fat removal, physical exercise etc. One of the other methods for cellulite removal is liposuction which is a surgical method.
In liposuction, unwanted fat deposits are removed and the body is shaped. Using canula, which is a flexible tube with sharp pointed part, fat cells are either sucked using vacuum or emulsified using ultrasonic probe and then removed by suction. This is a procedure only to shape the body and is not recommended to reduce weight. But, like any other surgical procedure, this cellulite removal procedure can lead to many complications. They may be as listed below
" Infections may occur as in any other surgical procedure. Sometimes, these infections may become very serious and even life threatening.
" Fat cells loosened by this cellulite removal procedure may enter blood stream through blood vessels ruptured by the procedure. This is known as embolism. These fat cells may deposit in blood vessels, lungs and even in the brain which may become life threatening.
" During this cellulite removal procedure, the doctor may not be able to see the position of the canula. This may cause rupture or damage to internal organs like intestines which may require farther surgical procedure to repair the damage.
" There may be other complication like swelling which may continue for weeks or months after carrying out this cellulite removing procedure. Skin above the place where liposuction is done may die causing the skin to change color and get discarded.
" Fat tissue contains lot of liquid. Removal of these tissues may cause imbalance in body fluids.
Many people consider liposuction as a cellulite removal procedure as useless. This procedure only removes unwanted fat but does not remove fat from areas where cellulite is present. In fact, it worsens the appearance of cellulite. Also, it is also a quite costly procedure.
Therefore, before taking up this surgical cellulite removal procedure all the pros and cons to be considered very carefully.
